3D Scanner 2.0 - Mac App update

For all those who had trouble in the old version, I guess I've fixed most of it by now. Now we have the next big update here, just uploaded it and waiting for Apple to approve the update. Though, you don't see any extra features in this version, the main intension of this version was to improve the quality of OpenGL rendering, background filtering, allowing user to control the thresholds that were previously hardcoded.

If you feel this update does not deserve a whole new version number, you need to wait until the next updates that will fill advanced features. Also, keep posting your feature requests, so we know what you expect. :)

  1. I'm using v2.1, and there is a horizontal misalignment between the geometry that is made and the texture that is applied. Is that a new problem? I don't remember it from the earlier version. You can see the effect in the live view, if you do bg removal you'll see that the opaque area is shifted to the right of the subject matter.

I have been trying to fix the alignment problem since the first release. The alignment offset is a bit complicated and not proportionate to the distance. The current fix is the best I could give right now. We will consider improving it in the next version. Thanks for support.

  3. Is there a way to at least get it back to how it was in the old version? Could you perhaps have an offset slider, that the user would move to get the best position for the item of interest?

  4. In the latest version, we have just updated the usb driver and the interface. From what you have explained about, I guess that this is another problem where the rub camera input from the kinect is flipped. To fix this, please disconnect and unplug the Kinect and then reconnect the device. Then start the app. This should fix the problem.

  5. If you still have the problem please send the sample files you have captures so I can understand the problem better.

You can see the quality here : http://code42tiger.blogspot.in/2011/10/3d-scanner-app-for-mac-osx.html

The quality of the mesh is dependent on the kinect sensor. We do not alter the quality unless you choose to smooth the mesh before exporting.

  8. If you can make that 3D scanner do the same things that ReconstructMe can do, then I will purchase your app.

    1. Hi, We are working on an Update for the fix. Our previous update got rejected by Apple for some changes in their UI terms. Hopefully, we'll have the update in less than a week.

    1. Hi Support,

I bought the software 3DScanner, however I am not able to save 3D models (. Or ply. Obj).

Export does not work. Spacebar to take 3D snapshots do not work.

Please send me a version that works.

I bought the software at Apple Store account and so does not have the update.

      I await a solution.

  13. The current version in the AppStore, has a bug that crashes mostly when you try to export. We fixed the issue and Our previous update got rejected by Apple for some changes in their UI terms. Hopefully, we'll have the update in less than a week. If you are too frustrated, We regret your inconvenience and you shall always claim a refund from Apple. I best Advice is to wait for another week, before Apple approves the new update.

    Thanks for your support.

    1. That is not a correct answer. The correct answer is to provide a download link to users who bought the product.

    2. Whem are you planning this new update ? I just can't make the software detect the sensor... Does it work with Kinect for Windows ?

  14. Hi

Any idea when the update is going to come? You have an active product on the App Store that doesn't work, with little to no help for users that are buying it.

  17. Hello,

I do not understand the difference between the two programs you offer, can you explain the difference?
    3DScanner and 3DVideoRecorder.
    Are compatible with Asus Xtion?

    1. We've not tested the App with Asus Xtion, so right now its NO.

The first App 3D Scanner takes single picture when you click the button. And the 2nd starts taking series of snaps and can be converted into a 3D morph animation using other softwares.
